the environment and sustainability
Nature at Work believes in the need to preserve the environment through a sustainable approach to landscaping. We undertake a variety of sustainable practices, offering a wide range of technologies and approaches which when applied during the design and construction process will help reduce the environmental impact of each project we complete, these include;
- Recycling rain water through harvesting process
- Recycling and use of composted green waste
- Careful disposal and recycling of all other waste material
- Control measures to minimise waste
- Low carbon emitting lighting installations
- Design of drought tolerant planting
- Implementation of green walls and green roofs
- Sustainable drainage systems, permeable paving
- Soft landscaping solutions for urban areas
- Biodiversity rich site specific planting schemes
- Enhance and protect ecosystems and biodiversity
- Native tree, hedgerow and buffer planting
- Conscientious sourcing of hard landscape and soft landscape materials such as timber purchased from Forestry Stewardship Council (FSA) certified sources.
- Installation of Bird, Bat and beneficial invertebrate boxes

The environmental and social benefits of plants cannot be underestimated, plants installed in gardens and in public planting schemes benefit the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide and absorbing rainfall through leaves and roots – helping t prevent and mitigate the effects of climate change and flooding. Trees also provide shade and shelter in public spaces reduce temperatures in ‘hot spots’ and protect against strong wind flow in urban areas. Research also shows that plants help improve social behaviour reduce crime, increase recovery rates in hospitals and workplace productivity and are a healthy addition to the social environmental, physical and mental well being of people.
